According to data from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), of the total, 181,237 flights departed on schedule. Bamboo Airways posted the highest on-time rate at 83.2 per cent, though this was 0.5 percentage points lower than a year earlier.
The industry recorded 1,740 cancellations last year, equivalent to 0.6 per cent of flights, up 0.2 percentage points from 2024. Bamboo Airways had the lowest cancellation rate at 0.2 per cent, or 24 flights.

Late aircraft arrivals and airline-related factors were the main causes of delays, alongside weather, airport equipment issues and other factors.
Passenger traffic across the market is estimated at about 83.5 million in 2025, up 10.7 per cent from 2024, while cargo rose 18.5 per cent to roughly 1.5 million tonnes.
Despite continued expansion, the sector remains under pressure, with 28 aircraft grounded due to engine shortages, 13.1 per cent of the commercial fleet.
For 2026, the industry targets 95 million passengers and 1.6 million tonnes of cargo, increases of 13 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. The regulator plans to draft and submit five decrees and 10 circulars guiding implementation of the 2025 Civil Aviation Law to align regulations with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards.
On delays and cancellations, the CAAV said a draft air transport decree will set compensation rules, including payment levels, to strengthen passenger rights, improve service quality and align with international practice.
