Vietnam, Indonesia call for observation of int’l law, UNCLOS

The call was jointly made by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsurdi in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.

The two officials agreed the two countries will foster their strategic partnership across fields, including cooperation in sea-related issues.

Both sides also affirmed the importance of continue reinforcing solidarity and centrality of ASEAN, accelerating practical and effective cooperation within ASEAN-led mechanisms and between ASEAN and its partners.

The same day, Vice Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung had bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart Vijay Thakur Sing to discuss ways to beef up bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation between India and ASEAN in general and between India and the Mekong Sub-region.
