According to Dr Duong Huu Thai, head of Institute of Vaccines and Biological Medical (IVAC), the vaccine’s first trial result has been assessed to be safe and immunogenic by the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam Covid-19 vaccine starts second phase of trials
Around 375 volunteers, aged between 18 and 80 have been selected for the second stage of trials, including those suffering from chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension but now are in stable condition.
If the second phase goes well, the blood sample of the volunteers will be collected on the 42nd day after their first jabs for the vaccine’s immunogenicity assessment which is expected to be implemented by early fourth quarter this year.
On the 57th day, the volunteers will be provided with medical check-ups, including blood tests for evaluation and analysis before the research recommends the third phase of trials on around 1,000 volunteers.
The first phase of the Covivac trial, covering 120 volunteers was conducted in March this year.
