Vietnam on Wednesday confirmed additional 13,271 Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to over 10.50 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
Most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 60 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (1,039), Phu Tho (880), Bac Giang (586), Gia Lai (561), and Quang Ninh (551).
As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,502,590. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,536,828), HCM City (607,699), Nghe An (477,687), Binh Duong (383,022), and Bac Giang (381,519).
On April 20, an additional 2,540 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 9,068,234.
On Wednesday evening, a further seven deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,982. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Binh Dinh (1), Can Tho (1), Dak Lak (1), Dong Thap (1), Gia Lai (1), Lang Son (1), and Vinh Long (1).
Vietnam on April 19 administered 291,030 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 210.10 million.
