
Ho Chi Minh City conducts Covid-19 vaccination during both day and night
According to the ministry's report, 9,684 of the newly-confirmed patients are locally-transmitted cases most of whom were detected in quarantine sites or areas under lockdown in some localities including 3,898 in Ho Chi Minh City, 3,210 in Binh Duong, 724 in Long An, 614 in Dong Nai, 201 in Khanh Hoa, 130 in Danang, 114 in Hanoi, 94 in Soc Trang, 92 in Dong Thap, 85 in Ninh Thuan, 71 in Can Tho, 67 in Tra Vinh, 57 in Vinh Long, 46 in Binh Thuan, 42 in Phu Yen, 41 in Dak Lak, 23 in Thua Thien-Hue, 21 in Lam Dong, 20 in Ben Tre, 18 in Kien Giang, 15 in An Giang, 14 in Binh Dinh, 14 in Hau Giang, 14 in Quang Ngai, eight in Ha Tinh, seven in Dak Nong, six in Ca Mau, six in Quang Nam, five in Binh Phuoc, four in Gia Lai, three in Lao Cai, three in Hai Duong, two each in Thanh Hoa, Lang Son, Son La, Bac Lieu, Phu Tho, and one each in Ha Nam, Quang Binh, Thai Binh, Hung Yen, and Vinh Phuc. Among these new infections, 2,155 cases were found in the communities.
Ho Chi Minh City continued to report the highest number of new infections in the country. On Saturday, the city also recorded 3,930 new patients, the majority of which are individuals who came into contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or who were detected in either isolation and locked down areas. Social distancing rules are being further tightened in the city to contain the virus spread.
As of Sunday evening, 206,490 locally-transmitted cases have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country on April 27, including 121,804 in the virus hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City. The outbreak has so far spread to 62 cities and provinces nationwide.
The Ministry of Health has allowed localities with high number of infection cases to quarantine and treat patients at home.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 210,405 including 208,060 locally-transmitted cases.
On August 8, a total of 4,860 more patients were released from hospital following their full recovery, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 71,497.
On Sunday evening, a further 147 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 3,397.
The country has conducted over 8.89 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with 888,459 people having received two doses.
