Delegations from more than 80 countries attended the annual session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) which opened its annual session in Geneva, Switzerland, on March 1.
The Vietnamese delegation is led by Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
During the three-day session, 70 leaders will deliver speeches on their countries’ efforts to promote and protect human rights.
They will discuss the impact of the global economic downturn, evaluate the implementation of human rights around the world and draft a statement on education and training in human rights.
Human rights experts will focus on issues related to the basic right to food and houses, the protection of human rights, anti- terrorism efforts and the freedom of religion and belief.
The session will close on March 26.
