Vietnam Airlines has cancelled flights to and from Europe due to a giant cloud of ash from a volcano in Iceland that has forced the temporary shut-down of two major international airports in France and Germany.
The closure of the Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt airports prompted the national flag carrier to cancel four flights yesterday on the routes Paris-HCM City, Frankfurt-Ha Noi, HCM City-Frankfurt and Ha Noi-Paris, according to Vietnam Airlines spokesman Le Hoang Dung.
Two other flights scheduled for today on the Frankfurt-HCM City and Paris-Ha Noi routes are also cancelled.
The airline will continue announcing timetable information for regular and additional flights from Ha Noi and HCM City to Europe.
