First flight from Japan welcomed at Van Don Airport

The first flight from Narita Airport in Tokyo carried over 100 passengers and landed at Van Don Airport at 2 pm. The second flight was from Osaka and arrived at Van Don Airport on December 29. Leaders of Quang Ninh Province welcomed and gave flowers to the first passengers. The passengers were also given many gifts such as free tickets to visit Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu Mountain.

Vietnam Airlines is operating charter flights on the Japan-Vietnam routes at Van Don Airport. They use the Airbus A321 which has 184 seats for those flights.

One year after going into operation, Van Don Airport has had two domestic routes to and from HCM City and Danang City operated by three carriers including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways. The airport receives two flights per day and three flights on Sundays. It also receives charter flights to and from China, South Korea and Japan. The data for Shenzhen-Van Don flights is deemed stable and positive.

As of now, Van Don Airport has received nearly 250,000 passengers, of which 11,000 are international passengers, and transported over 1.2 million tonnes of goods. Over 2,000 domestic flights have taken off and landed at Van Don Airport.

Van Don International Airport is Vietnam's first private airport. It received the first international flight on December 30, 2018.
