The US Embassy in Hanoi and US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have announced the Summer 2024 Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) programs for scholars and secondary school educators.
University lecturers, researchers, and secondary school educators who wish to apply for the programs can submit the online application form by the application deadline of 11:59 pm, January 1, 2024 (Vietnam time).
Study of the US Institutes for Scholars and Secondary Educators are intensive post-graduate level academic programs that provide foreign university faculty and secondary educators a deep understanding of US society, culture, values, and institutions. The goal of the Institutes is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States at academic institutions abroad.The SUSI program will provide multinational groups of experienced and highly motivated foreign university faculty, researchers, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers, Ministry of Education officials, secondary school educators and administrators with a deeper understanding of US society, education, and culture. The program will take place at various colleges, universities, and academic institutions throughout the United States over the course of five weeks beginning in late May 2024. Each Institute includes a four-week academic residency component and a one-week integrated study tour to another region of the United States.

All participant costs, including program administration, international and domestic travel and ground transportation, housing and subsistence costs, book, cultural, postal and incidental allowances will be sponsored by the US Department of State.
SUSI for Scholars comprise the following themes in US Studies: American Politics and Political Thought; Contemporary American Literature; Journalism and Media; US Culture, Identity, and Society; US Economics and Sustainable Development; and US Foreign Policy.
Selections will be announced in early April 2024.
