US announces Fulbright Vietnamese Student Programme academic year 2025-2026

The US Mission in Vietnam has announced the Fulbright Vietnamese Student Scholarship Programme, which offers fully-funded scholarships to study for a Master’s degree in the United States for academic year 2025-2026.

As part of the US commitment to support Vietnam’s goal of a training a high-tech workforce, announced as part of the historic upgrade in bilateral relations earlier this year, the Fulbright program especially welcomes applications from candidates in science and technology related fields. For academic year 2025-2026, the Fulbright Vietnamese Student Programme has been expanded to include engineering and physical sciences for the first time. The programme continues to be open to individuals seeking to continue studies in social sciences and humanities.

Established in 1946 and funded by the US Congress, the Fulbright Programme aims to advance mutual understanding through academic and cultural exchange. The Fulbright Vietnamese Student Programme is a competitive, merit-based scholarship programme. The scholarship covers fees related to tuition, round-trip airfare to the United States, a monthly stipend, and health insurance.

Competition is open to applicants who meet the following minimum criteria: hold Vietnamese citizenship and reside in Vietnam throughout the application and selection process (dual citizenship not permitted); have at least one undergraduate degree; have at least two years of work experience after graduation by the time of their application; and have a valid minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79 or IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110 or TOEFL Essentials 8.5.

Interested applicants should apply online. A complete application package includes an application form, three letters of reference, diplomas and transcripts (including notarized English translations), TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo/TOEFL Essentials score reports, and a curriculum vitae. The deadline for application submission is 5:00 p.m., April 1, 2024 (Vietnam time).
