Super Typhoon Noru has devastated many localities in the central and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam, causing power outages and house damage in many areas.

Noru made landfall to the central and central highlands regions of Vietnam on Tuesday evening with the eye lying in Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.

In Hoi An and Danang cities, people were advised to stay indoors.

Many trees were uprooted in heavy rains and strong winds, falling onto the streets.

Metal roofs were blown away by strong winds.

Widespread power outages were reported in some mountainous areas in the two central highlands of Kon Tum and Gia Lai.

Power cuts were also recorded in many localities in Quang Ngai and Quang Nam provinces.

Flooding has also occurred in Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Ngai and Quang Nam provinces, leaving many areas isolated.

No fatalities have been reported.

As of 1am on September 28, Typhoon Noru weakened to 117 kph. It is expected to move west at the speed of 20-25 kph and weaken into a depression today.

Heavy rains are forecasted to continue today, and flash floods and landslides are warned in mountainous areas.
