According to the initial reports, the fire erupted from one boat and then spread to the other quickly. The incident occurred at around 1 pm on Monday.
The scene of the fire
Boat QN 6218 had capacity for 25 passengers, and boat QN 5616 that can carry 15 passengers were both manufactured by a shipbuilder in Quang Ninh.
At the time of the fire, no passengers were on both boats.
The rescue was affected due to the strong wind, according to some witnesses. The fire was put out by 2 pm, leaving both boats destroyed.
The cause of the case is under investigation.
