Hanoi’s People Committee has proposed Hanoi’s construction master plan until 2045 should be amended to include two local satellite cities.
Under the recommendation, one city would be located to the north of the Red River, covering a total area of 633 square kilometres in the districts of Me Linh, Soc Son, and Dong Anh. The area’s population by 2045 would be 3.25 million.
The city is expected to have 45 wards and 24 communes. The city centre would be located in the southern part of Noi Bai International Airport and near Smart City and Co Loa historical site.
The second city will be situated in the Hoa Lac and Xuan Mai urban areas. It would focus on science and technology and education training.
The 251-square-kilometre city would have a population of 1.2 million by 2045 with an urban area accounting for 135 square metres.
Tourist sites such as Ba Vi, Dong Mo and Tich River will be highlights of the city.
