Two new universities to make debut

The HCMC College of Food Industries has earned University status and the Information Technology & Communications University has been established.

The new school-year 2009-2010 opens at the Ho Chi Minh City College of Food Industries

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just decided to upgrade the Ho Chi Minh City College of Food Industries to a university and establish the Information Technology and Communications University.

The Ho Chi Minh City College of Food Industries, administered by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is a State-run training center which can train over 14,000 students per year.

The college is offering training courses in 20 specialties, including IT; Electrical engineering; Electronic engineering; Thermal-refrigeration technology; Electro-mechanics; Machinery manufacturing; Chemical technology; Chemical analysis; Food technology; Cooking technique; Seafood processing technology; Bio-technology; Environmental engineering; Clothing technology; Fashion design; Footwear technology; Tour guide; Accounting; Business administration; and Plastic chemical technology.

The Government chief also agreed on the establishment of the Information Technology and Communications University from the Faculty of Information Technology of the Thai Nguyen University.
