
One has been injured and two are missing when a container ship collided with a barge on Saigon River on July 4
The accident occurred at 5 am in front of ELF Gas Port. The Prosper from Mongolia was leaving Vietnam International Container Terminal Port when it suddenly crashed with a barge from Ben Tre Province which was carrying 600 cubic metres of sand.
The barge sank quickly and one on board was injured. The captain and one crew member are still missing.
The local authorities have found the sunken barge and salvage work is on the way. The injured crew member is working with the authorities over the accident. The local inspectorate and management board of inland waterways are asked to regulate the traffic in the area and help with the search and rescue.
The sunk barge was due to be decommissioned on January 12, 2019.
