According to initial reports, the accident occurred at around 7 am on January 21 at the construction site at Nui Sam Ward in Chau Doc City. Three workers fell from the fourth floor of the project onto the ground. As a result, two died on the spot, while another was severely injured.

The two who died are Tran Quang Khai, 39 and Nguyen Thi Be Phuong, 29. The injured was Nguyen Thi Ut, 41. All of the three are from An Giang Province.
Some witnesses said that they heard the collapse of the scaffold and then saw the workers fall to the ground.
Tran Quoc Tuan, vice chairman of Chau Doc City People’s Committee, said that local authorities have instructed an inspection into the cause of incident as well as labour safety at other local construction sites.
