One bomb was identified as a United States Mark 80 series 227 kilo MK82, which was detected at the depth of one metre. Meanwhile, another US M117 bomb weighing 340 kilos was detected in a local river in Huong Lap Commune.
The two bombs were found in Quang Binh
Border forces and people in Huong Lap Commune reported the case to the provincial military authorities right after detecting the bombs.
On November 10, the bomb and mine detection and clearance team of the Peace Trees Vietnam relocated the MK-82 bomb to a safe area to await detonation, meanwhile, the other will be dealt with when the river water level goes down.
