Twenty fishermen saved from sinking vessel near Phu Quy Island

While fishing near Phu Quy Island, a Binh Thuan Province fishing boat capsized, leaving 20 fishermen rescued by the Border Guard Forces, while two remain missing.

The fishermen are saved by the Border Guard ship on April 1.

The Binh Thuan Border Guard Command announced on April 2 that they had successfully rescued 20 stranded fishermen at sea near Phu Quy Island.

According to a report from the authorities, at 6 pm on April 1, the fishing vessel BTH-97877 with 22 crew members on board suffered water ingress and was at risk of sinking, 26 nautical miles south of Phu Quy Island.  The captain immediately sent out a distress signal.

Upon receiving the alert, the Binh Thuan Border Guard Forces swiftly dispatched Rescue Ship CN09 with 14 officers and soldiers from Phu Quy Island at 6:45 pm to conduct the rescue. A notice was also sent to other fishing vessels in the area to provide assistance.

By 10:30 pm, the Border Guard ship reached the scene and successfully rescued 20 fishermen floating in basket boats. The survivors were brought to Phu Quy Island for medical care.

Rescue forces are continuing intensive efforts to locate the two missing crew members.
