National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines have been licensed for operating 12 flights to take Vietnamese citizens from the US to return home.

After getting the licence from the US Transportation Security Administration, Vietnam Airlines is actively working with agencies in Vietnam and the US to arrange the flights.

The first flight is scheduled to arrive in Vietnam on July 24 from Washington DC. The Hanoi-Washington DC route would take around 30 hours, using Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

All of the flights will strictly conform to Covid-19 prevention regulations.

Last year, the national carrier carried out over 20 charter flights between Vietnam and the US to repatriate local people as well as transport experts and cargoes.
