A passenger vehicle traveling from Quang Ngai Province to the Central Highlands crashed into a car this morning, August 11, leaving at least 20 people injured.
Front end seriously damaged
The incident occurred in Pho Duc District, Quang Ngai Province, when the 29-seat bus was picking up passengers on the way to Dak Lak Province.
Canh, one of the passengers, said “The driver suddenly lost control and swerved into the wrong lane. We crashed into a car moving in the opposite direction. My daughter and I were thrown from our seats. We both had injuries, and were panicked afterwards. The driver and another passenger sitting in front were injured as well."
Both vehicles were damaged at the front ends, but the second vehicle was less so. Almost all the passengers of the bus suffered some injuries.
Injured passengers
Immediate following the accident neighbouring residents and Phu Duc District police came to help in the rescue effort. Several patients were taken to Dang Thuy Tram Hospital.
Six passengers were seriously injured and sent to Quang Ngai General Hospital for further treatment. The driver and a female student suffered the most serious injuries.
Administrators at Dang Thuy Tram Hospital said, 23 passengers were initially sent to the facility for first aid. There were no fatalities.
