Tien Minh wins first badminton match in HK Open

Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh easily defeated host rival Ka Long in straight sets at the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2012 on November 21.

Minh dominated the first set and sealed a quick victory with a score of 21-13.

The top Vietnamese player let his Hong Kong rival overwhelm in the first minutes of the second set, but produced a spectacular comeback to end it 21-18 after 33 minutes.


In the second round, Minh will face the winner of the match between Taiwan’s Jen Hao Hsu and China’s Chen Yuekun.


In other men’s individual event, No1 player Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia outplayed Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand wit the same score of 21-15 in two sets, while No2 seeded Chen Long of China beat Andre Kurniawan of Indonesia 21-10 and 21-13.
