Top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has moved into the quarter-finals of the 2015 Bahrain International Challenge, according to a post in the Tien Phong Online Newspaper.

On November 4, Minh trounced Amrullo Bakhshullaev from Uzbekistan 21-4 and 21-7 in only 20 minutes of play. Later in the day, he also summarily defeated Kaushal Dharmamer from India 21-11 and 21-12.

Minh will next face Sameer Verma from India in the quarter-finals.

In the women’s event, Vu Thi Trang handily breezed past Sarah Joy Barredo from the Philippines in the first round 21-7. She lost to Iris Wang from the US 17-21 and 18-21 in the second round.

In other men’s events, Pham Cao Cuong started out strong winning the first set against Singaporean Zi Liang Derek Wong 21-19 but lost the final two sets 13-21 and 10-21 to drop out in the first round.
