A report from local police said that the accident occurred on National Road 26 at 6.30 am when the motorbike carrying three people crashed into a car which was running in the opposite direction.
"The intense crash left the motorbike driver, Vu Van Hoi, 41, his 26-year-old wife Quach Thi Loan, and their 13-year-old son Vu Van Kiet dead on the spot," the report said. "The car's driver was also injured and has been sent to a local hospital. The motorbike and the car's head were badly damaged."
Spanning over 150 kilometres, National Road 26 connects Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces. Some sections of the road run through forests, winding and hilly terrain while others through crowded residential areas, and the road has been prone to many traffic accidents.
Police are further investigating the accident.
