Rescue team at the accident site
According to reports from local authorities, the tragic accident occurred at 4am in Ha Long City's Bai Chay Ward when the dyke collapsed onto a construction site where four workers were sleeping in a makeshift tent.
Despite a quick response, the rescue team found the first body at 7am. Three other people were found at 9 am but two were dead already and the other was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

After arriving at the site to direct the rescue work, vice chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Pham Van Thanh, asked for an urgent evacuation of some nearby households.
