Quang Ngai is now home to 137 high-risk spots threatened by landslides and flash floods and 157 eroded riverbank and coastal locations.

Erosion by the Ve and Phuoc Giang rivers in Nghia Hanh District has worsened, particularly in Nhon Loc 1 and Tinh Phu Nam villages and Cho Chua Town.

Vo Van, head of Phu Vinh Tay residential area in Cho Chua Town, said whenever there was heavy rain, local residents worried that their houses and crops would be damaged by erosion caused by Phuoc Giang River.Quang Ngai People’s Committee has conducted a survey for resettlement projects in areas at risk of landslides, erosions and flash floods in the 2021-2025 period. According to the survey, more than 1,800 households with a total of 7,300 people in five mountainous districts in the province are living in areas threatened by landslides, erosion and flash floods.

The province has planned to build 35 resettlement areas for around 1,000 households by 2025.

Ho Trong Phuong, director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that landslides and riverside erosion in Quang Ngai had worsened. The province is seeking solutions to deal with the problems.
