A survey by the ministry of some 42,159 firms nationwide showed that some 62.7 percent would pay an average Tet bonus of VND 6.17 million (USD 268) to each member of staff this year, equivilant to 97 percent of that recorded in 2021 and 92.2 percent of the 2020 figure.
All enterprises reported a 2-10 percent reduction in Tet bonuses compared to 2021 and 2020, the survey said.
At state-owned firms, workers would be given an average bonus of VND 5.59 million for Tet, which is 96 percent of the 2021 figure. Workers at private companies would get VND 5.92 million, while those at foreign-invested firms would receive the highest bonus of VND 6.66 million.
Meanwhile, bonuses for New Year 2022 were only equivalent to 58 percent from last year's figure, the ministry said.
