Ho Chi Minh City’s Tourism Promotion Centre, in coordination with the city’s Tourism Association and the Saigon International Film School (SIFS), are running a Vietnamese street cuisine filmmaking competition from October 7 to December 7.

Film durations are limited to five minutes but contestants can use any type of equipment, from professional cameras to mobile phones.
The competition’s seven-member expert jury includes Senior University of Georgia Lecturer Michael Castengera, Malaysian television director Chew Han Tah, SIFS Academic Director Huy Moeller, culinary expert and cookbook author Robert Danhi, American director Max Murta, Saigon Professional Chefs Association Vice Chairwoman Bui Thi Suong, and culinary expert Chiem Thanh Long.
Organising board representative Bui Dien said the jury are especially eager to see narrative simplicity and the everyday realities of street vendor life, introducing audiences to Vietnam’s friendliness and hospitality and the beauty of its cuisine.
The competition’s prize pool is worth a total of VND200 million.
