According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, at around 4 am today, August 10, the storm centre was around 160 kilometres from the east of Hainan Island.

Between the next 12 to 24 hours to come, the storm will move west-northwest. At 4 am on Thursday, the typhoon would be 80 kilometres from the southeast of Mong Cai City in Quang Ninh Province with a wind speed of 62-74 kilometres per hour.

Within 48 hours to come, the storm would continue moving west-northwest and then weaken into a low tropical depression.

Areas at sea including the Paracel Islands, would face violent winds and big waves.

The north of the Gulf of Tonkin, including Co To and Bach Long Vi islands, would see stronger winds and rougher seas from this morning.

From this evening to August 12, the northern region and the northern central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe would have torrential rain.
