The Republic of Korea (RoK) will recruit Vietnamese guest workers again after a period of suspension, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
The announcement was made by Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, deputy head of the Overseas Labour Management Department under MOLISA, at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 3.
The Korean side will employ workers specialising in manufacturing, construction, agriculture and aquaculture, said Quynh.
MOLISA will send 15,000 applications to the RoK for consideration after candidates pass the Korean language tests, said the official.
Candidates can register for these tests at all provincial Departments of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs from November 11-14, and do the tests on December 17-18.
Priority will be given to farmers who live in the 62 poorest districts across the country, said Quynh.
Vietnam sent more than 63,000 nationals to work in the RoK between 2004 and August 2011, and up to 85 percent of the applications were accepted by RoK businesses.
