Social distancing measures will be implemented in the southern province of Tien Giang from Friday midnight after the locality detected some locally-infected Covid-19 cases.

Under the decision signed by Chairman of the provincial people’s committee Nguyen Van Vinh, the social distancing regulations in line with the government’s Directive 15 start from June 12 until further notice.

With the social distancing measures, local residents will only allowed to go out in necessary cases. They need to wear a face mask in public places. Directive 15 also requires the suspension of social events, bans gatherings of 20 people or more in one place and of 10 people or more outside workplaces, schools and hospitals. A minimum distance of two metres between people in public places should be ensured.

In case of the more complicated pandemic, the chairman of districts and towns in Tien Giang can decide to apply tighter social distancing measures.

Over the past two days, Tien Giang has confirmed four locally-infected Covid-19 patients. Two among those have come to many different places and had close contact with many people.

One area in My Duc Dong and another in My Hoi Commune, both in Cai Be District, have been isolated for Covid-19 infections.
