It is taking to two to three hours to pass a Covid-19 checkpoint near Xuan Phuong Bridge that connects Hanoi and Phuc Yen.

This is the main road for vehicles from Hanoi to some northern localities. However, congestion only occurred on the route to Phuc Yen lane while the opposite direction saw clear traffic.
On the afternoon of August 25, vehicles queued up for over a kilometre on the National Road 2 near Tan Dan Commune, Soc Son District where two Covid-19 checkpoints were set up.

A Hanoi Traffic Police Officer, Dang Hoang Tan, said that the congestion started on the morning of August 23 when people to Phuc Yen City were asked to stop at the checkpoints for health declarations.
"All drivers and passengers have to stop to show their identity cards, passports and a Covid-19 testing certificate with a negative result, which is only valid within 72 hours," he said.
A driver, Nguyen Thanh Nam, said that he heard about the congestion and left two hours earlier than scheduled but it still took him three hours to pass the checkpoint.

To ease the congestion, the traffic policeman advised drivers to some northern provinces to switch to Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway or Road 100.
Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee started tightening control for people coming from localities such as Hanoi that are applying social distancing measures since August 20.
