Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung has asked the local Police Department to investigate an alleged teenage prostitution ring involving school girls in Ba Vi District.

Earlier this week, a report broadcast by Vietnam Television showed that several students at Khanh Thuong Secondary School in Ba Vi District had been tricked by a high school student in the area into joining a prostitution ring supplying virgins to customers.
In the report, some students aged 14-15, told a reporter that they were tricked into prostitution after being promised simple jobs with high payment during free time by a high school student in the area. Some said they were taken at the school gate by a taxi to a hotel and forced to have sex with no protection.
According to the report, the men paid between VND5-10 million (USD217-434) to have sex with a schoolgirl but actually the students were given just from VND500,000-1 million (USD22-44) or nothing.
One of the students said that she was so scared when entering the hotel room and understanding the situation but could not escape.
Another one, who managed to escape from the taxi said she was repeatedly coerced into prostitution again afterwards.
She said she tried to resist but was threatened with violence if they refused or reported the incidents to the authorities.
Some said that they were asked to persuade their friends to join and would have been given a commission.
The ring is said to be organised by several women in Son Tay Town who arrange the men and find the students.
The operation was uncovered by an NGO that wished to remain anonymous to protect future campaigns.
Following the report, Ba Vi District Department of Education and Training has asked the Khanh Thuong Secondary School to report about the situation and local police to investigate the case.
A a teacher at the school said that he recently saw two students being picked up by a taxi near their school.
At the police station, some girls admitted they were forced into prostitution by their friends.
