Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung, speaks at a meeting on Covid-19 prevention on March 7

Speaking at a meeting on Covid-19 prevention and control work on March 7, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said the exact date for the re-opening of schools would be decided at the municipal People’s Committee’s meeting after March 15.

The decision was made after the city reported a new case of Covid-19 infection late Friday evening.

Speaking at the meeting, Hanoi Party Secretary Vuong Dinh Hue asked that those schools which have reopened must be closed immediately.

The official also asked for a halt of all meetings, festivals or ceremonies if not necessary.

The 26-year-old patient earlier visited her sister in the UK, then travelled to Italy and returned to Hanoi on March 2.

This is the 17th COVID-19 case in Vietnam. The previous 16 patients have been cured and discharged from hospital.

Meanwhile, in Ho Chi Minh City, only students at 12th-grade classes are returning to schools from next week while the rest will have one more week off.
