Samsung locks down factory with positive employee

Chairman of Bac Ninh People's Committee Nguyen Huong Giang said on April 13 that they had been notified by the Ministry of Health about the new positive case, Patient 262, at Samsung factory. The 26-year-old employee made contact with his uncle on March 27, who was tested positive for the virus previously.

He had coughing and a fever on March 31. His was tested positive on April 11.

On April 12, the provincial authorities worked with Samsung Company in Bac Ninh to quarantine all employees and the unit. 44 people have been put into group quarantine at Bac Ninh Military School. Hundreds of people have been asked to self-isolate after being on the same shuttle buses with the patient.

The factory and the shuttle buses have been disinfected.

Nguyen Nhat Cam, director of the Centre for Disease Control in Hanoi, said the 262nd patient's travel history was complicated. While showing the symptoms, he still went to work and only took a leave on April 6. He had made contact with many employees who are from various provinces in the north.

"Each trip had about 20 people that means that each day the patient travelled with 40 people, for a whole week," Cam said.

At the patient's office, there are about 20 people working on computers in a shared environment and use the same cafeteria. The patient only travelled from home to work and vice versa.

Bac Ninh Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control are still tracing the patient's contacts.
