The vaccine granting ceremony was held at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on August 25
On the behalf of the Vietnamese government, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung expressed his great thanks to the Romanian government for the support. This proves the good relationship between the two countries over the past 70 years, he said.
Dung highly appreciated Romania which is the first member of EU to donate Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam. He noted that Vietnam would soon use this vaccine batch effectively.
According to the Romanian ambassador, after the phone talks between Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis in July, Romania decided to triple the vaccine donation for Vietnam to 300,000. Vietnam is the first Asian nation that Romania has donated Covid-19 vaccines to.
Vietnam previously donated medical masks and equipment for Romania’s Covid-19 fight.
