Road work driving public mad

Roads in Hanoi are jammed and covered with dust due to the road work which is taking place for the city's 1,000th Anniversary.

Nguyen Luong Bang and Tay Son are examples of roads in Hanoi that are backed-up, jammed, and leaving motorists gasping for air.

Construction materials are scattered across the roads as they wait to be repaired. Traffic has become heavily congested and moves along at the pace of a tortoise, especially during peak hours.

Le Thi Hanh, living in Thanh Xuan District complained, “I have to go to work by this road daily. It takes me about half an hour to pass through the roads which are being repaired. It’s very hot and the road is a mess. I ride my motorbike for a while, then I have to push it. Some people also do that but their vehicle wheels still hit the ditch. I can't wait for this situation to be over.”

The daily activities and business of residents living in the area have been adversely affected as well.

Traffic control by police seems to be ineffective. The amount of people who have to use these routes means traffic congestion is unavoidable.
