Vietnam has reported a rise in the number of community transmission Covid-19 infections with 2,305 cases confirmed on Friday according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 4,889 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 50 localities including HCM City (977), Binh Duong (697), Dong Nai (697), Bac Lieu (398), An Giang (320), Kien Giang (249), Tay Ninh (180), Soc Trang (151), and Can Tho (101). There were 10 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 13 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,305 infections found in the community.
As of Friday evening, 905,558 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (430,059), Binh Duong (231,721), Dong Nai (64,412), Long An (34,632), and Tien Giang (16,199). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 910,376. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 29, an additional 2,169 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 816,132.
On Friday evening, a further 56 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 21,966. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (32), Binh Duong (6), Bac Lieu (5), Dong Nai (4), Tien Giang (2), Soc Trang (2), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1), Khanh Hoa (1), Quang Ngai (1), Kien Giang (1), and Lam Dong (1).
Vietnam today administered more than 1.71 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 78.94 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 23.36 million people having received two doses.
