After the outbreak in Ha Nam occurred, Hanoi authorities immediately carried out contact tracing at 15 locations in 10 districts and towns and collected over 3,000 samples. Over 26,000 staff and 10,000 in-patients at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and K Hospital have been tested. As of now, 58,000 people have been given their first shot of Covid-19 vaccines.
However, Dung said the risk of a new outbreak in Hanoi was very high due to increasing community cases, especially the infections at hospitals. Many patients had already visited Hanoi and met many people before they were tested positive. Illegal border crossing is still a problem that needs to be dealt with.
The Department of Health has been asked to review all medical facilities in the city. Hospitals were asked to test their staff, patients and family members regularly. Localities authorities must issue warnings to the residents from other provinces and cities to limit going to Hanoi hospitals.
Hospitals must send the list of the patients zero as well as patients who had been transferred to other hospitals from April 14 to the authorities for contact tracing.
Dung also urged Hanoi People's Committee to issue directives and consult with the Ministry of Health about stopping the reception of patients at locked-down hospitals.
