The first ASEAN Labour Inspection Meeting is due to take place in the northern province of Quang Ninh from October 13-14 with the participation of agencies from 10 ASEAN countries.
The event will involve ASEAN’s partners and representatives from the International Association of Labour Inspection (IALI) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The meeting aims to improve labour inspections, focus on the labour inspection structure and the criteria for training professional labour inspectors and ways of coping with challenges to labour inspections.
Labour inspectors will also share their experiences in enforcing labour laws and regulations to ensure stable labour relations.
The meeting is of great significance for ASEAN countries as they are implementing plans adopted at the ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting in the 2010-2015 period with the goal of building an ASEAN community by 2015.
