A poor single mother in Bac Giang Province is in need of financial support to help save her baby from heart disease.

Pham Thi Hoi, 26, cried while holding her ailing one-month-old daughter at her small house in Tan Yen District's Thuong Don Village.
"We've just returned home from the hospital," she said in tears. "Doctors said that my child's condition was serious and would need long and costly treatment. I am afraid that I cannot afford it."
The young woman said that she herself also has heart disease. Her parents were poor and couldn't afford proper treatment for her. Thanks to donations from local authorities and kind donors, she had a surgery in 2013 and her health has gradually improved since.
Hoi lives with her mother after her father died from cancer many years ago. Due to weak health, she never dared to dream about getting married but she desperately wanted to have a baby. Her mother initially opposed her plan to become a single mum, worrying about her weak health. But Hoi managed to persuade her mother to support her dream and gave birth to her little daughter in September this year.
Head of Thuong Don Village, Doan Thanh Binh, said that Hoi's family was the most difficult case in her locality.
"We hope to receive some financial support to save the small child," she said.
