Nguyen Thi Hoa, 40, has had problems with her eyes since small and she cannot see clearly. Her health is also poor and she can only do some housework and gardening around the home.
Hoa's husband Hoang Van Khuong used to be the breadwinner of the family until he was diagnosed with lung cancer early this year. However, just before being struck down by the disease, his farming business went bankrupt and he had to sell the family's only house in Le Thuy District to repay the debt.
The family now have to move to a temporary tent built by the forest.
Speaking to Dantri/Dtinews reporters, Hoa said in tears that they could not afford hospital treatment for her husband and so he had to stay home suffering from constant pain.
"I'm very worried seeing him dying from the disease but I'm just powerless," Hoa said. "I don't have the money while our three children aged between 2-14 are having to live on donations from local authorities and neighbours."

Talking about the family's situation, vice chairman of Truong Thuy Commune People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Quyet, said that they really need support to overcome their current difficulties.
"We've tried to raise some money to help them but as we're living in a poor locality, the donations were still modest," the official said. "I hope that they will receive more support from the public to help Khuong have medical treatment and the children have a better future."
