Police check on a man without face mask
The police and related agencies have increased patrols to deal with violators. From March 31 to April 12, they have dealt with 145 cases without face masks and four large gatherings and collected a total VND36,800,000 in fines.
On April 13, Tran Minh Hanh, chairman of Dien Phu Commune, Nghe An Province, said they had fined a group of young people for having a picnic near Xuan Duong Lake. "When we arrived, all nine of them didn't wear face masks," Hanh said.

Bac Lieu provincial authorities also fined 13 cases on April 13 for gathering at public places. On April 10, while patrolling, the authorities found 13 people gathered in front of a house in Bac Lieu City to chat. They had recorded the cases and asked the Ward 5 authorities to fine the violators. Each person was fined VND200,000 for not taking personal preventive measures to protect the people involved in the epidemic fight and people at risk of disease.
On April 11 and 12, the authorities recorded nearly 100 cases and fined over 50 cases.
Duong Thanh Trung, chairman of Bac Lieu Province People's Committee had asked local authorities to strictly fine anyone who do not wear face masks or gather at public places.
