PM directs stronger citizen protection over death of four Vietnamese nationals

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed an official dispatch to relevant ministries to work alongside relevant Thai authorities in deploying citizen protection measures over the death of four Vietnamese nationals in a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

In an official dispatch sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affair (MoFA) on July 17, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, the PM stated that the four, together with the two others of Vietnamese origin, were found dead on July 16 at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel on suspicion of being poisoned. Currently, Thai authorities are continuing to conduct an investigation into the case.

The PM has therefore asked the MoFA to closely co-operate with Thai agencies in the process of investigating the case, implement relevant citizen protection measures to ensure the legitimate rights of Vietnamese citizens, handle foreign relation matters with Thailand, and provide updates for the media and the public.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Public Security has been urged to co-ordinate efforts to investigate the incident at the request of the Thai side, provide information about the victims' relatives to the MOFA as a means of carrying out citizen protection measures.

Simultaneously, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand has been asked to direct the Vietnamese Embassy to closely monitor the incident, promptly report on the developments of the investigation, deploy citizen protection work, and help each of the bereaved families with necessary procedures in line with regulations.
