Hundreds of patients were evacuated from Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi last night (April 13) after what is believed to have been an electrical fire.

Patients reported seeing smoke coming from the first floor of the four-storey Traditional Medicines Ward of the hospital in Hoang Mai District before the power went out.
Luong Duc Phai said he smelled something burning and smoke began engulfing the first floor.

"Doctors told us to keep calm because they had switched off the power, but then urged us to to quickly move out of the building," Phai said.
Hoang Mai District police sent three fire engines to the hospital, but the fire had been extinguished by staff, no injuries were reported.
The fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. An investigation is underway.
