In 2010, Vietnam expects to receive US $7.2 billion of overseas remittances, up US $400 million against last year.
The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese estimated that in the first eleven months of 2010, around 520,000 overseas Vietnamese came back Vietnam to visit their relatives.
Overseas Vietnamese have invested US $5.7 billion in over 3,200 projects in Vietnam.
In addition, they are actively taking part in national great festivals, contributing to charitable funds and assisting domestic victims of natural disasters.
According to a representative from the Committee, in the coming time, the Committee intends to propose more policy incentives to lure more overseas Vietnamese experts and scholars to return Vietnam.
