The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said a cold air mass would reach the northeast early on December 3, before spreading to the northwest, north-central provinces and the northern part of central Vietnam.

The northern region of Vietnam will be hit by a widespread cold spell from December 3
From Wednesday night, northern and north-central areas, including Hanoi, will turn cold with lows of 15-18 degrees Celsius, while mountainous regions will see 13-15 degrees. Some high-mountain areas may fall below 10 degrees.
From mid-December, stronger cold surges are expected to bring severe cold conditions, with the potential for frost and ice in high-mountain areas, posing risks to agriculture and daily life.
This winter in the north is forecast to be mainly dry and cold, sunny during the day but sharply colder at night, a pattern likely to persist through December 2025 and January 2026.
Strengthening cold air, combined with the weakening circulation of Typhoon Koto and upper-level easterly disturbances, will trigger moderate to heavy rain from December 2-4 in southern Quang Tri, Danang, eastern Quang Ngai, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa.
