According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold spell is expected from January 30 to January 31, with light rain in many areas and harsher conditions in high-altitude zones.

From the night of January 25 to January 27, northern and north-central regions will see isolated showers accompanied by early morning mist and light fog. The north-east is forecast to experience light rain, drizzle and scattered fog at night and in the morning, with rainfall increasing from January 26.
During the same period, areas from Quang Tri to Danang and eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai are expected to have isolated rain, while the north will see cold nights and early mornings.
Other regions are forecast to experience scattered evening and night showers with sunny conditions during the day, while the Central Highlands will be cold overnight and in the early morning.
As stronger cold air surges arrive, travellers to northern mountainous areas are advised to bring warm clothing, particularly at night and in the early morning. Caution is also urged during drizzle and fog due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
For trips to Sapa, Ha Giang and Cao Bang, tourists are advised to closely monitor weather updates and limit outdoor activities during sharp temperature drops or prolonged rainfall.
