
The northern region will face heavy rains from July 28.
Rains are forecasted to start in the northwest region from Thursday evening and then expand to other regions for the days to come from Friday according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Provinces including Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Son La, Lai Chau, and Yen Bai will see occasional showers from this evening, the centre said.
From the evening of July 29 to August 1, northern mountainous and midland areas will see heavy rains with rainfall of between 100-200mm. Lowland areas including Hanoi will also face heavy rains and thunderstorms between July 29-31.
Hail and thunderstorms, with the risk of tornadoes and strong winds, may occur in some areas after several severely hot days. Warnings of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas have been issued while flooding may hit lowland areas.
The Central Highlands, central and southern regions would also see more rains from this evening, the centre added.
