The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has predicted rainy days for the northern region because of the effect from a tropical depression on the East Sea and cold air from the north.

A rainy day in Hanoi
At 1 am on January 9, the tropical depression was located at latitude 9.8N, longitude 125.2E, to the south of the Philippines. The highest wind measured at the area near the eye of the depression was 40-60 kilometres per hour.
In the next 24 hours, the depression will move to the west at the speed of 10-15 kilometres per hour. On January 11, the depression will arrive on Philippines' Pa La Oan Island.
At the same time, cold air is moving toward Vietnam. It's forecasted that from January 10 to 12 the north will have widespread showers. Mountainous areas may have heavy rain.
