Dance clubs in Vietnam will not be allowed to accept customers aged below 18 while karaoke bars must have room area of at least 20 square metres.

The regulations are defined in the newly-issued Decree 54/2019/NĐ-CP by the government which will take effect from September 1, 2019.

Dance clubs and karaoke bars must ensure fire safety and are not allowed to install interior door catches or alarm devices except for fire alarms, according to the decree.

These facilities must locate at least 200 metres away from schools, hospitals, religious sites and historical or cultural heritage sites. They must follow regulations on noise proofing, environment protection and food safety.

The decree also rules that dance clubs are not allowed to operate between 2am-8am, while karaoke bars must close between 12am-8am. They must seek permits for art performances at their facilities.
